Helpful tips to keep your pool blue while you’re away…

  • Top up your pool water as the pump & filter cannot operate properly if the water level is too low
  • Clear pump and weir baskets of all debris
  • Backwash and rinse the filter
  • Test and correct your levels to within the recommended ranges:
    • pH: 7.2 – 7.6
    • Total Alkalinity (TA): 80 – 120ppm
    • Free Chlorine : 1 – 3ppm
    • Stabiliser <50ppm
    • Copper/Iron: 0
  • Keep the filtration system on while you are away and set the timer to run for summer filtration hours
  • Shock treat your pool to kill any germs or algae that may be present in your pool water
  • Continuous chlorination is essential to prevent algae growth. Consider adding a pool floater
  • Check that your Automatic pool cleaner is in good working order
  • Consider Installing a leaf catcher to prevent floating debris from sinking to the floor of you pool
  • Safety is important when you are leaving your pool unattended. Restrict access to the pool by ensuring that the pool enclosure gate is closed and/or that the pool net is securely fitted.
  • If you are going away for an extended holiday, ask a friend or neighbour to clear your pump and weir baskets, backwash and rinse your filter regularly and check that your chlorine level is within the recommended range
