pH & TA Adjuster Products

It is important to maintain you pH and TA levels at all times. pH is the measure of the acidity and the basicity of your pool water. A correct pH level (7.2 – 7.6) allows for maximum efficacy of your sanitiser, it prevents damage to the lining and fittings in your pool and also increases swimmer comfort. TA (Total Alkalinity) measures the amount of alkaline material in your pool water. A correct TA level (80ppm – 120ppm) prevents pH bounce and corrosion of pool fittings and equipment.

HTH® Dry Acid/HTH® pH Down/HTH® Dry Acid Weir Tabs

HTH® Dry Acid, HTH® pH Down or HTH® Dry Acid Weir Tabs work like liquid acid. They are safer to use as they only become liquid acid in water. To reduce your pH, use HTH® Dry Acid or pH down, HTH® Dry Acid Weir Tabs.

Directions for use: To lower pH

Test your pool water using your HTH® Quick Test Strips or HTH® 4-in-1 Test Kit
If pH is above 7.6, use 1x sachet of HTH® pH Down or 250g HTH® Dry Acid around the sides of the pool or the required number of HTH® Dry Acid Weir Tabs placed in the weir with the filter running
Check the pH after 3 – 4 hours to ensure it is in the correct range of 7.2 – 7.6
If the pH is still too high, continue to adjust until it is within the recommended range

Directions for use: To lower TA

Test your pool water using your HTH® Quick Test Strips or HTH® 4-in-1 Test Kit
If TA is above 120ppm, use 2x sachet of HTH® pH Down or 500g HTH® Dry Acid in one spot of the deep end with the filter off
Leave the motor off for 15 – 30minutes
Thereafter, turn the motor on and continue with normal filtration and chlorination
Only check the TA level after 3 days to ensure it is within the correct range
If the TA is still too high, continue to adjust until it is within the recommended range

NB: One cap of HTH® Dry Acid can hold 500g of product

HTH® Easy Acid™

HTH® Easy Acid™ lowers pH and TA in pools. It has an easy measuring strip and dose table

Directions for use:

Test and correct your TA to within the required range of 80 – 120ppm
Test pH using HTH® Quick Test Strips or HTH® 4-in-1 Test Kit
Refer to the dose table for correct quantity to dose. Never add more than 500ml at any one time.
With the filter running, pour acid around the sides of the pool
After 3 – 4 hours, test and readjust pH if necessary

Refer to table on the back of the bottle for correct quantity to dose.

HTH® pH Up or HTH® Alkalinity Up

HTH® pH Up raises pH and is safe to use with all pool linings.

Directions for use: To increase pH

Test your pool water using your HTH® Quick Test Strips or HTH® 4-in-1 Test Kit
If pH is below 7 add 1 bottle of HTH® Metal Remover as per label instructions before adjusting pH to prevent staining
If pH is below 7.2, use 1x sachet of HTH® pH Up or 250g HTH® Alkalinity Up around the sides of the pool with the filter running
Check the pH after 3 – 4 hours to ensure it is in the correct range of 7.2 – 7.6
If the pH is still too low, continue to adjust until it is within the recommended range

Test your pool water using your HTH® Quick Test Strips or HTH® 4-in-1 Test Kit
If TA is below 80ppm add 1 bottle of HTH® Metal Remover as per label instructions before adjusting TA, add 1kg HTH® Alkalinity Up in one spot of the deep end with the filter off
Leave the motor off for 15 – 30minutes Thereafter, turn the motor on and continue with normal filtration and chlorination
Only check the TA level after 3 days to ensure it is within the correct range
If the TA is still too high, continue to adjust until it is within the recommended range
